Mesynthes has introduced a tissue substitute for people suffering from tissue damage, burns and reconstructive surgeries. The company’s Endoform Dermal Template is an FDA approved ready-to-use tissue substitute that can be used for wound care and dermal reconstruction. Allergan Gets Approval For JUVÉDERM

Allergan, the pharmaceutical company which manufactures Botox, has received the approval from the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) for its JUVÉDERM® XC. JUVÉDERM XC is a new formulation that contains lidocaine to make the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds much more comfortable.

Survey depicts the perils of plastic surgery

A survey conducted by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons in early 2009 indicated that two in five of their members had to undergo corrective treatments for complications caused by the injection of permanent fillers by high street clinics in the past year. The survey also showed that one in every five members of the association had to get complications with body contouring corrected.

FDA-approved wrinkle treatment hits US market

The FDA has recently approved a new injectable treatment for wrinkles, called Dysport. A local doctor said it is less expensive, works faster and could last longer than Botox. “It is a botulism product just like Botox,” said plastic surgeon Brian Heil. Dysport is used to relax scowl lines on the face. It has been in use in Europe for years, but the new FDA approval is opening the door for Dysport in the US.
