Cardium Files FDA 510(k) Application for U.S. Marketing Clearance of ExcellagenXL(TM) and ExcellagenFX(TM)

Cardium TherapeuticCardium Therapeutic has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Tissue Repair Company, submitted a 510(k) premarket notification filing with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) seeking marketing clearance of its Excellagen(TM) product candidate based on positive data from the Company’s recently completed Phase 2b Matrix clinical study. ExcellagenXL(TM) and ExcellagenFX(TM) are advanced wound care management medical devices comprising customized collagen protein-based topical gels designed for use by health care professionals for patients with dermal wounds.

Plastic Surgeons Often Go Under the Knife, Survey Shows

American Society of Plastic SurgeonsThe American Society of Plastic Surgeons surveyed 276 of its members and found that 62 percent of them had undergone at least one cosmetic procedure. This most often included Botox injections and chemical peels. Also, a third of these doctors had undergone an actual invasive surgery, with liposuction being the most common procedure. Many of the surgeons in the survey were women.

New non-invasive skin tightening procedure

University of Alabama at BirminghamThe Department of Dermatology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is now offering a new non-invasive skin tightening procedure. The skin is tightened by the use of a device called Thermage that uses radio waves. Thermage treatments are done without anaesthesia and can be completed in one or two sessions in time ranging from 20 minutes to over an hour. Thermage treatment warms the skin, which absorbs radiofrequency energy to tighten the collagen.

Epic Wound Care Signs Distribution Agreement With Coreva Health Science, LLC

United EcoEnergy CorpUnited EcoEnergy Corp. has announced that its wholly-owned portfolio company, Epic Wound Care, Inc. has signed an international distribution agreement with Coreva Health Science LLC (Coreva) to distribute Epic’s Hemostyp(TM), under the private label ActCel. Hemostyp is an innovative gauze product designed for use on any wound where bleeding is still present. Upon contact with moisture, the gauze forms a gel-like substance that acts as a homeostatic agent to stop the bleeding quickly.
